MedBuddy® for Medical Practices
The happiest patients you’ve ever had. Starting at the hardest moment of their visit.
MedBuddy® transforms the injection experience for children — and turns your practice into the one families talk about, recommend, and come back to year after year.
Every pediatric practice, family medicine office, and urgent care clinic deals with the same moment: a child in the exam room, a syringe in the nurse’s hand, and a fear response that hasn’t changed in 182 years.
That moment is painful for the child. It’s heartbreaking for the parent. It’s exhausting for your staff. And it’s the last memory the family carries with them when they walk out your door.
MedBuddy® changes that moment completely. And the downstream effect on your practice — in loyalty, reviews, referrals, and reputation — is something no marketing budget can replicate.
The Business Case
Why this is the smartest patient experience investment your practice will make.
You already know that patient experience drives everything — online reviews, word-of-mouth, appointment compliance, and long-term retention. You invest in your waiting room, your front desk team, your patient communication systems. All of it matters.
And then there’s the injection appointment. The moment that undoes everything else.
A child who screams, a parent who feels helpless, a nurse who dreads the next one — that’s not a patient experience failure. It’s a design problem. Nobody gave your practice a better option.
Until now.

“The parent would be really happy to see something new and positive for their kid. I think parents feel bad having to take their kids to these appointments. MedBuddy® would change that.”

The Happy Meal Strategy
In 1979, McDonald’s introduced the Happy Meal. A smaller portion of food. A cheerful box. A toy inside. And one of the most enduring patient — customer — loyalty strategies in the history of modern business.
The Happy Meal worked not because the food was better, but because the experience was better. Children who received a toy left with a positive emotional memory. They wanted to come back. They told their friends.
Their parents became loyal customers. And the brand became synonymous with making children feel good.
That is exactly what MedBuddy® does for your practice.
The parallel is direct — and intentional
The Happy Meal: Child sees the box, anticipates the toy, tolerates the meal, leaves excited, wants to return.
MedBuddy®: Child selects their figurine, anticipates the reward, tolerates the injection, leaves excited, wants to return.
The behavioral psychology is identical. The reward anticipation effect — the dopamine release that begins before the reward arrives — transforms the child’s emotional relationship with the experience. The difference is that McDonald’s is selling french fries. You’re delivering healthcare.
The practice that does this first in your market owns it. MedBuddy® is a first-mover opportunity. And like the Happy Meal, the practices that adopt it early will be the ones remembered for it.
First mover advantage:
MedBuddy® holds U.S. Patent 10,427,060 B2. There is currently no direct competition in the marketplace for this category of product. The practice that introduces MedBuddy® to their patients becomes the definitive fear-free injection provider in their market before anyone else can.
The Five Outcomes
What MedBuddy® delivers for your practice, your team, and your patients
“I like the idea that they take it home. It takes their mind off the process, and they do love gifts. The clip provides me a more secure grip on the syringe.”
— Steve, Pharmacist, STREAM Research Study
Before & After MedBuddy®
The appointment experience — transformed
The same injection. The same nurse. The same child. Completely different experience.
Without MedBuddy®

Child screams in the waiting room when they realize what’s coming

Nurse spends three minutes trying to calm a combative patient before even beginning

Parent holds the child down — feeling helpless, guilty, and stressed

Injection happens — child is crying, parent is apologizing, nurse is drained

Family leaves with a negative emotional memory of your practice

No review. No referral. No social post. Just a difficult afternoon everyone wants to forget
With MedBuddy®

Child is shown the figurine selection before the appointment even begins

Child picks their buddy — they’re already focused on the reward, not the syringe

Nurse clips the figurine to the syringe barrel — the child watches their buddy, not the needle

Injection is administered — child is distracted, calm, and engaged with their figurine

Figurine is unclipped and handed to the child — they leave holding their very own toy

Parent posts on Instagram. Leaves a 5-star review on Google. Tells two other parents.

Family books the next appointment without negotiation

What the research confirms:
After the 4-week STREAM Research Study — conducted by an independent national research firm with nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists — MedBuddy® received overwhelmingly positive feedback across every professional category. Medical professionals confirmed it can be safely used during injection procedures without interfering with technique, workflow, or clinical outcomes.
How It Works
Simple enough to use in any practice. Effective enough to change everything.
MedBuddy® was designed to integrate seamlessly into any injection workflow. There is no training program. No equipment purchase. No change to clinical protocol. Just 4 simple steps that take less than twenty seconds — and transform the entire appointment.
Step 1
Show the selection
Before the injection, show the child a selection of MedBuddy® figurines and let them choose one. This takes fifteen seconds and immediately redirects their attention from the anticipated injection to the anticipated reward.
Step 2
Clip the figurine
Attach the chosen figurine to the syringe barrel using MedBuddy®’s proprietary safety clip. The figurine secures in seconds and disguises the barrel — removing the primary visual fear trigger while giving the child something engaging to focus on.
Step 3
Administer the injection
Proceed with the injection exactly as you would otherwise. The child is focused on their figurine. Multiple nurses in the STREAM Research Study noted that the clip also provides a more secure grip on the syringe — a clinical benefit nobody expected.
Step 4
Hand over the buddy
Once the procedure is complete, unclip the figurine, discard the clip immediately and give the toy to the child as their take-home reward. They did it. They earned it. And your practice just became the place where they got their buddy.
Beyond syringes
MedBuddy®’s proprietary clip system is designed to attach to multiple medical devices — not only syringes. The same distraction and reward mechanism applies to:
- Oral Dispensers
- Stethoscopes
- IV bags
- Nebulizers
- Other pediatric clinical tools
Every interaction your team has with a young patient is an opportunity to make the experience less frightening and more rewarding.
No approval process. No compliance burden.
MedBuddy® is classified by the FDA as a Class 1 exempt device — meaning it meets safety requirements without requiring additional FDA approval. It is non-toxic, non-hazardous, and contains no sharp or dangerous components. Stock it, use it, and focus on your patients. That’s the entirety of the implementation process.
Practice Types
Every practice that sees children. Every injection they receive.
MedBuddy® was built for any clinical environment where children receive injections or medical procedures. The business case looks slightly different for each practice type — but the patient experience outcome is identical: a child who leaves your practice happier than they arrived.
The Proof
What medical professionals said after using MedBuddy® in the field
MedBuddy® was tested over four weeks by STREAM Research, an independent national research firm, through a series of structured interviews with nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other medical practitioners.
The study evaluated clinical safety, likelihood of adoption, and emotional impact on patients, parents, and providers.
The feedback was unanimously positive. Here is what the professionals who actually used it said:

What the science confirms:
What the science confirms: The behavioral foundation of MedBuddy® draws on decades of peer-reviewed pediatric pain research: Gate Control Theory (Melzack & Wall, 1965), autonomy-supportive care studies, and published research on toy-based distraction in clinical settings. Multiple studies confirm that toys in healthcare reduce anxiety, build trust between children and healthcare workers, and can accelerate the healing process. MedBuddy® applies that evidence to the most common procedure in pediatric care.
Staff Talking Points
For nurses, MAs, and front desk teams introducing MedBuddy® to patients
These are ready-to-use scripts for your clinical and administrative team. They require no memorization — just natural, warm language that introduces MedBuddy® at the right moment in the appointment.
At check-in / front desk
“Before you go back, I want to show you something exciting. Today, we have a surprise for you. Before you go back, you’re going to pick which MedBuddy® you want to take home for being so brave. Are you ready to pick your favorite MedBuddy® now? Alright let’s do it.”
In the exam room, before the injection
“Okay, I’ve got your MedBuddy® right here. Watch — I’m going to put them right on the medicine so they can come with you. Your job is to keep your eyes on your MedBuddy® the whole time. Can you do that? Great. Ready? Here we go.”
Immediately after the injection
“You did it! Okay — here’s your MedBuddy®. It is all yours to take home. You were amazing. Do you know the name of your MedBuddy®?”
To the parent, as they leave
“You can let us know how it went today with the MedBuddy®. And if you’d like to leave us a review on Google, we’d really appreciate it — it helps other families find us. See you next time!”
Staff note:
The moment you hand the MedBuddy® to the child is the moment the parent’s phone comes out. That photo — their child beaming, holding their new MedBuddy®, in your clinic — is the most authentic marketing content your practice will ever have. Encourage it. It belongs on their Instagram and your Google review page.
